Light Up the Schuylkill.

For anyone who remembers a decade back, to when the Schuylkill Banks (not that anyone called it that) was all trash and rubble, the public art installation that's about to overtake the riverbank should be especially moving. The three-day project from Mural Arts, created by Boston-based artist and MIT professor Meejin Yoon, will scatter 90 LED-lit plastic orbs along the bank and within the river itself. The orbs will be interactive, changing color in response to passersby. The temporary work opens with a reception Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. and remains in place from dusk through dawn on the 15, 16 and 17, between Market and Chestnut streets. This story is from Brownstoner.
